Over the years I have enjoyed dinners and lunches at Carpaccio Italian Ristorante & Bar, but not for quite some time now. Last night myself and partner ventured out for Date Night at Carpaccio’s. What a great meal!
As you can imagine with an offer like theirs, the restaurant was fairly busy on a Tuesday night. Not having reservations, we had to a wait a few minutes for a table in the dining room. While doing so, we ordered a French martini at the bar and decided we liked the ambience in the bar and the view from the tables beside the windows so we simply stayed in the bar where we were greeted by a few friends of old throughout the evening.
Having checked out the menu on-line, we knew fairly quickly what we would order, but needed to hear the daily specials. Their date night menu offered bruschetta or garlic bread to start, choice of soup or salad, choice of several entrees and choice of dessert — basically a four course dinner for two for just $59. Oh, and did I mention – that price also included an Italian bottle of wine! We chose the Cabernet Merlot Sauvignon.
The service was great, the food fantastic. I enjoyed the Vitello Parmigiana (veal striploin cutlet breaded and pan fried with Carpaccio house made tomato sauce, mozzarella and side spaghetti), while my partner enjoyed the Penne Pellicano (sauteed red onions, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, olives, tossed with sundried tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil).
We finished up the meal with tartufo and cheesecake while enjoying conversation with the staff and other visitors to the restaurant we knew.
All in all a well-deserved dinner out, if I do say so myself. We were home before 10 and for me – back to work for a bit.
